TOPPING OUT ON NEW HIGH SCHOOL AT WENTWORTH POINT

TOPPING OUT ON NEW HIGH SCHOOL AT WENTWORTH POINT Main Image

Member for Parramatta Donna Davis MP joined the topping out ceremony for the new high school at Wentworth Point, marking the completion of the concrete structure of the school.

In keeping with tradition, an evergreen tree – a Magnolia ‘Teddy Bear’ – was lifted by a crane on to the sixth storey of one of two new buildings.

The $160 million project is being undertaken in two phases and will deliver modern facilities for approximately 1,500 students, including learning spaces for food technology, wood and metal work, performing arts and fitness facilities, a library, multipurpose hall, outdoor spaces, canteen facilities, administration and staff facilities.

The new high school will be located next to Wentworth Point Public School on the northern tip of the peninsula, on the lands of the Wann, or Wangal, people.

The school will cater for the growing population in the Wentworth Point, Sydney Olympic Park, and Concord West communities and is on track to open to Year 7 students in 2025 upon completion of the first phase of the project.

Minister for Education the Hon. Prue Car MP said:

"I am delighted to be here today to celebrate the topping out of this much-needed new high school for the Wentworth Point community."

This school is more than just bricks and mortar; it will become a cornerstone of the community, and a place for students to thrive and achieve their full potential."

“The delivery of this high school is a key part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ensure teachers and students in growing communities have the tools they need to nurture excellence in teaching and learning.”

Member for Parramatta Donna Davis MP said:

“I am so pleased to be here to celebrate this exciting milestone for our newest high school."

“With the structural construction now behind us, the focus shifts to the façade and internal fit-out of the school."

“I look forward to sharing further updates on the progress of this project. Before we know it, this school will be filled with students and teachers ready to take advantage of the fantastic modern facilities.”
