ERMINGTON WEST PUBLIC SCHOOL UPGRADE AND NEW PUBLIC PRESCHOOL
Project overview
The Minns Labor Government is upgrading Ermington West Public School to renew existing school assets and provide additional support and preschool spaces.
The upgrade will include:
- 3 new support learning classrooms
- new administration facilities
- upgrade the existing hall to include Out of School Hours (OOSH) and storage
- upgrade the existing classrooms
- a new amenities block.
As part of the Minns Labor Government’s commitment to deliver expanded access to early childhood education, this school upgrade will also include a new public preschool for 40 children.
Next steps
The school will be upgraded in 3 stages.
Stage 1 – refurbishment of Building D and C (library and classrooms) and X (toilets)
Refurbishment of library, classroom spaces and toilet block to be delivered by early 2027.
These spaces will not be available for use by the school for a short period, however other provisions
will be made available for students. We will work closely with the school and update staff and
families when we have confirmed timing and finalised plans.
Stage 2 – construction of the new buildings
This will include the new building that will house 4 new classrooms and 3 support classrooms, as
well as a new administration building, co-located public early learning, and covered outdoor
learning area (COLA), as well as improved car parking and landscaping.
We expect to begin demolition of existing buildings and construction of the new buildings in early
2027 once:
- stage 1 refurbishments are complete
- we have appointed a builder
- we have received planning approval.
Stage 3 – refurbishment of the admin and OOSH spaces
Once the new buildings are complete and students have moved into the new buildings, we will finish
the upgrade with refurbishment of buildings A and B, including outside of school hours (OOSH) care
spaces.
