After 12 years of neglect by the previous Liberal Government, I’m pleased to announce that we are removing every demountable and building 10 new permanent classrooms.
CARTER STREET PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Minns Labor Government is getting on with the job of building better local schools for our children with upgrades to Newington Public School on the way.
Working with Premier Chris Minns, this upgrade will be completed in late 2027 and will include:
- A new permanent teaching building with 10 new classrooms;
- The removal of demountable classrooms;
- New shared indoor common areas and student amenities; and landscaping works.
BETTER SCHOOLS AND MORE TEACHERS ACROSS PARRAMATTA
When the Minns Labor Government was elected one of our priorities was to rebuild our
education system. Just in the last two and a half years we’ve:
- Delivered the largest pay rise in a generation to all of NSW’s public school teachers;
- Reduced teacher vacancies across NSW by 70 per cent meaning our kids are spending more time learning in class and receiving more one-on-one attention from their teachers;
- Started delivering 207 new classrooms across our community; and
- Nearly halved the number of merged and cancelled classes across NSW by getting
more teachers into the classroom.
Rebuilding our education system takes time but we are committed to getting the job done.
